Southside Chicago born soul singer Ronnie Brandon has been singing since the age of 5. Performing around the city with his gospel church choir in the 70's, he had an early introduction to performing in public. He was also a student at Countee Cullen Elementary, where performance was a big thing and students were often rehearsing and performing for public display!
Years later, after having moved to Virginia at a young age, he continued to develop & form r&b groups for local talent shows! By the time he would enter college, he would use his skills to become the lead singer and songwriter of various reggae bands. "That allowed me to focus on vocal development, musicianship, learning lyrics, showmanship and the business! I've had excellent guidance." he states.
After performing in D.C. at Ivy City Smokehouse with his reggae band and noticing next door at City Nites and The Howard Theater , other D.C. venues, that artists like Musiq, Anthony Hamilton and Raheem Devaughn were often performing, he began to realize he still had a desire to perform soul music in such venues. After returning home, he went into his catalogue and pulled out songs like "Sweet Cocoa" and "Soul Sista", while plannning a way to get things started as a touring ole skool r&b artist.
A soulful voice and pleasant manner make Ronnie Brandon a definite artist to experience! Not to mention his pen and songwriting ability, which will open your mind while he serenades you with a barrage of flavour! From Motown to New Edition to New Kids on the Block his influences are plenty. Other artists who you might find on his playlists range from Darius Rucker to Lenny Kravitz for abstract pleasure. Sam Cooke, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, Charlie Wilson, Michael Bolton, Keith Sweat, Jodeci, Boys To Men, Usher, Jon B. and John Legend are also favourites.
